Our Role
METI plays a strategic role within Indonesia’s renewable energy ecosystem through evidence-based policy advocacy, capacity strengthening, and multi-stakeholder dialogue.
Contributing to renewable energy policy and regulatory frameworks through strategic recommendations, research insights, and engagement with government institutions.
Providing an independent and inclusive forum that brings together academia, industry, government, and civil society to address strategic and practical renewable energy issues.
Facilitating research exchange, best practices, and human resource development initiatives to support effective and sustainable renewable energy deployment.
Why Renewable Energy Matters
Heavy reliance on fossil fuels increases energy security risks, degrades environmental quality, and accelerates climate change impacts. Indonesia holds vast renewable energy potential that remains significantly underutilized.
PM2.5
Rising fossil energy consumption contributes to high levels of air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions, affecting both public health and environmental sustainability.
WHO recommended PM2.5 guideline: ≤ 5 µg/m³
Energy Mix
Indonesia’s national energy mix continues to be dominated by fossil sources, while renewable energy contributions remain below their full potential.
Renewable energy is not merely an alternative — it is a national strategic necessity.
